Fabric Colour Stories: Mocha Mousse
We're continuing our Fabric Colour Stories series with Mocha Mousse: The Pantone Colour of the Year 2025.
17-1230 Mocha Mousse is a warm, rich brown hue is inspired by the comforting qualities of chocolate and coffee, reflecting a global mood of connection, comfort, and harmony. It's designed to evoke feelings of thoughtful indulgence and everyday luxury.
Looking over the bestselling designs of the last 12 months, we're seeing our FibreGuard customers embracing this warm shade. In fact, brown on its own stands at an impressive 6% of all sales! As for texture, our customers are pairing mocha mousse-like shades with textured surfaces and even some lovely dry-feel bouclƩ compositions.
While white/eccru shades, and natural shades, are both performing the best (and far better than brown), it's nice to see this decadent tone gaining a little ground too...and, of course, we made our own Pinterest board dedicated to Mocha Mousse.

We thought you'd never ask.
Decadent Mocha Mousse vibes meet FibreGuard's Stain Free Technology
A versatile brown with welcoming depth, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse balances luxury and comfort in one special shade.
What makes Mocha Mousse truly special is its versatility. Whether gracing your floors, walls, or appearing in natural materials like sustainably sourced wood, stone, rattan, or premium leathers and textiles, this colour creates an immediate sense of belonging and warmth.
We're particularly excited about the transformative quality of Mocha Mousse in our fabric collections. While we've celebrated soft neutral fabrics before, this shade brings something genuinely distinctive to the table.

Finding the perfect mocha mousse shade in FibreGuard fabrics
Mocha shades can have various undertones, such as red, yellow, or grey. Identifying the undertone that best complements your existing decor saves a lot of effort in the long run.
Melange fabrics are a great example of this; they're so easy to combine with other fabrics and colours.
Did you know? Melange fabric is a textile created by blending fibers of different colors before spinning them into yarn, resulting in a distinct, heathered appearance.
Texture can affect colour (sort of)
The texture of the upholstery fabric can also influence the perception of the colour. A matte finish might make the mocha shade appear darker, while a glossy finish can make it look lighter.
There's a clear pattern in fabric sales too when it comes to textures.
Textures with a natural-feel to them, like a linen-look, tend to be selected in softer, lighter and more natural colours. This is where beige, sand, and other soft neutrals like that come into the mix.
We mentioned above that mocha mousse colour selections seem to be pairing with textured, dry-feel fabric compositions. This is actually going a bit against the overall trend that we've seen in our sales data: velvet or pile fabrics (chenille) are often selling the richer deeper shades such as chocolate.
High quality colours need high quality durability specs
A definition of 'quality upholstery' frequently comes down to its durability and how easy it is to maintain. This is measured in abrasion testing, such as pilling and brush pilling and tests like the Martindale or Wyzenbeek tests.
Our ranges all have the stain free technology that FibreGuard is known for and are washable at high temperatures. This really sets our performance fabrics apart, as there's no risk of fading or shrinking.
All of our textile tests are carried out by Labotex, an independent testing laboratory. It works specifically to serve innovators in the soft furnishing and decorative fabric industry. Its analytical techniques, rigorous testing methods and commitment to the ISO 17025 standard ensure excellence in textile analysis.

Mocha Mousse Colour meets FibreGuard performance
What sets FibreGuard apart from conventional fabric fabrics is the fundamental difference in approach. Rather than applying a surface coating that can wear away over time, FibreGuard protection is built into each individual fibere during manufacturing. This means the stain resistance doesn't degrade with age.
When you choose FibreGuard, you're joining a community of smart consumers who understand that the best fabric choice is one that enhances your lifestyle rather than complicating it.
