Four unique restaurants create special moments (trend watch)

We embrace the creation of remarkable experiences at FibreGuard. Every collection we release is overflowing with opportunities for designers to create distinctive and exceptional spaces, no matter what industry they’re working in.

Today we look at four special restaurant interiors that are more than just about food: they focus on creating experiences in a way that really speaks to us. Each of these locations conjures special moments in its visitors through soothing colour choices and a focus on bringing people together. We peek in on one of our own FibreGuard Pro projects too!

Imperfectly perfect: Pukkel restaurant, Huesca, Spain

Pukkel is a restaurant built around the concept of a healthy lifestyle, and the interiors designed by Masquespacio reflect this beautifully. From the onset they worked with 100% natural materials and were determined to integrate nature throughout the space.

The basic layout of the restaurant is formed in an imperfect, organic flow, drawing a path on the floor as if visitors were walking through a forest.

The entire interior invites customers to share a moment with their family or friends, disconnected from their daily routine, with the focus on Pukkel’s food and the company of loved ones.

The feel of this restaurant brought us back to our own trend watching and the core ideals of stress free, wabi-sabi interiors.

Unified by community: Valo, Helsinki, Finland

Designed by Fyra, Valo is a hotel concept combining multifunctional spaces into one cohesive whole. In their work, they designed two different restaurant spaces for Valo, with the Scandinavian feel for connection and community as a unifying theme running throughout.

The core of the design scene for Elo (the bistro) and Suo (the bar) is functionality. Visitors find patinated natural materials in Elo, for example, while ash parquet and ceramic tiling create light warm tones. Most of the furniture was designed by Fyra themselves too, and commissioned from local carpenters, while other pieces come from Finnish design brands.

We see a muted, earthy colour palette in both spaces. Elo is more neutral in tone, serving as a bistro and meeting place in the morning and afternoons, while Suo, the bar, is moodier, serving hotel guests and locals alike in the evening and into the night.

Wes Anderson visits Cuba: Café Banacado, Stockholm, Sweden

Café Banacado is an all-day breakfast café in Stockholm. Visitors arrive at the 70-square-metre café as if they’re entering another world, with its striking, pale-yellow palette inspired by Wes Anderson films and an unmistakably Cuban aesthetic.

Created by Swedish architecture studio ASKA, the café interior’s colour palette of muted yellows, brown and cream hues were deliberately chosen to evoke the sun-drenched bars and cafes in more southern climates.

"In order to create an environment that evokes a sense of 'time stood still' it felt natural to search for inspiration from the aesthetics seen in Cuba, as the design language found there follows classical timeless shapes while at the same time integrating retro and vintage elements," ASKA co-founder Polina Sandström told Dezeen.

The café has sofas with comfy pale-brown cushions, as well as small, tiled tables specially designed by ASKA for the space.

Take a coffee break in Paris with FibreGuard Pro
