His firm focuses on office furnishings and design, from 3D rendering to the finished space, including renovation work. They work closely with manufacturers to produce high-quality office furniture: which is how he came to visit us at FibreGuard.

Creating the Tooon chair

Toon de Somer is a passionate designer, in love with the creative process.

Together with designers Maxime Szyf and Axel Enthoven of Yellow Window, De Somer accepted the challenge to create the perfect chair. The Tooon chair is timeless, a beautiful piece that’s both elegant and functional, a feat of collaboration and inspiration that showcases a deep knowledge of product design and quality standards. It is also endlessly customisable.

The FibreGuard fabrics solution

In designing the Tooon chair with Enthoven and Szyf, De Somer was looking at what was missing in the market, specifically for upholstery fabrics that are easy to clean, especially as the client base for the Tooon chair would be outfitting business-oriented spaces such as offices and conference centres.

He wanted to work with local manufacturers and sought fabrics that not only could be dry-cleaned but could also be spot cleaned right then and there.

We were very excited to have Toon De Somer, Maxime Szyf and Axel Enthoven visit us, so naturally we filmed the occasion. Little did they know, however, that we had a surprise in store… watch De Somer’s reaction below:
