Stain-resistant style: how FibreGuard fabrics shape contemporary workspaces

The world of work is changing and with it is the need for adaptable workplace design. Upholstery, furniture and other decorative fittings are proving to be key players in shaping office spaces that help both to boost productivity and employee well-being.

The benefits of the ‘open plan office’ seem to be pretty much debunked by this stage, and we're into a new era of office design: one that has a much more flexible approach.

Journalists have been writing about the disadvantages of offices with open floor plans for years. To ensure that your office space is fit for purpose in the ever-changing world of work, it's important to consider the role that upholstery plays in supporting your team and driving success. - Read Interior design matters in the workplace: here’s why

This is where upholstery comes in; it’s an essential part of creating a space that feels comfortable, inviting and productive. Today we're looking at how FibreGuard upholstery supports the creation of flexible work spaces, in every area from acoustic control to hygiene, zoning and comfort.

Acoustics, office design, and FibreGuard fabrics

Of all the aspects of an irritating workplace, bad acoustics is a heavy hitter. In fact, 70% of office workers are not happy with the sound levels in their workplace, according to a finding by Leesman.

How can you ensure that your office interiors are acoustically welcoming? Look to the furniture and fittings. In our own office refurbishment for example, we worked with numerous different acoustic-controlling strategies to enhance each space. So what does this mean for you?

We’ve found that upholstered wall panels and acoustic ceiling panels offer sound-absorbing qualities that go beyond aesthetics, while fabric-covered partitions can create quiet zones without the need for walls.

What FibreGuard Pro fabrics bring to flexible working environments

New issues are coming up now that employees don’t have fixed desks to work at anymore. With all this movement of people and traffic flow, hygiene is a top priority. Clean surfaces, frequent disinfection are key: but how can you ensure your office furniture does its part too?

This is where FibreGuard Pro’s anti-microbial upholstery fabrics come in. We use them in our own kitchen areas. It’s a soft-to-the-touch range with a uniquely breathable and flexible moisture barrier.

The anti-microbial solution finish applied during the fabric production process gives the fabric that extra level of security, protecting whoever touches it against germs and bacteria. Don’t be fooled by its softness though: they also reduce the growth of bacteria by more than 90%.

Like all our FibreGuard ranges, FibreGuard Pro fabrics are also stain-resistant, so any spills or accidents can be easily wiped away without leaving behind any residue or marks. Perfect for a stress-free, hygienic workspace. You don’t need bleach or other toxic chemicals to clean any of our FibreGuard fabrics, and that includes FibreGuard Pro. For contract use: how FibreGuard fabrics are made

No forever chemicals or harsh cleaning products allowed

Designed in Europe, FibreGuard fabrics bring our love of high quality (and great experiences!) to the table. Unlike other easy-to-clean fabrics, the stain-resistant effect with FibreGuard performance fabrics is permanent. This means that the stain-free properties in our fabrics will not deteriorate after washing or prolonged use.

We coat the yarns with a solution that acts as a barrier against stains, preventing fabrics from retaining them. The stain cannot penetrate into FibreGuard yarns and are easily removed using water and soap if it’s an oily stain.

This hydrophobicity increases surface tension and prevents liquid stains like blood, coffee or wine from penetrating into the fabric. It also forms a layer on the fabric surface to help keep solid stains like pen, ketchup, or lipstick on the surface of the fabrics where it’s easy to clean.

The FibreGuard advantage: furniture that works as hard as you do

By focusing on acoustics, flexibility, health, and comfort, you can create a workspace that's a productivity powerhouse. And our team (and our fabric collections!) are here to support you every step of the way.
